How Can We Find Rest & Renewal in God?

We have been talking about Finding Rest and Renewal in God.  We have looked at God’s invitation to come to Him to receive rest for our souls and renewal of our spirits.  We near the end of this series of messages.  Whenever we finish such a series, I think it’s important to ask ourselves this question.  How will we respond to God’s invitation?  We might conclude that finding rest and renewal in God was a somewhat interesting topic for a season.  But now we can put that on our mental shelf and move on to something else.  But will such a response help us?     There’s a challenging verse from the book of James that addresses this.  James 1:22 – “But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”  “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.”  So, if we only come to hear a message from God’s Word and don’t do anything in response to it, we deceive ourselves.  Satan loves it when we only hear God’s word and don’t respond to it.  So today, we will focus on some ways to respond to God’s invitation.
