I didn’t get serious about my Christian walk until I was 19. I was in Israel on a summer teen mission. We were tasked with building a chicken house for an Arab Christian Orphanage for boys. Part of our mandated schedule was personal time with the Lord for a half an hour to an hour every morning. I’d never done that before. I grew up in church. I got baptized at 11. I attended Sunday School, Worship Services, Youth Group and College Career. Yet, I seldom read my Bible or prayed outside those Christian gatherings. So I didn’t know what I would do for 30 minutes to an hour in the mornings. They had this little guide that helped us follow a pattern. I think it was opening prayer inviting God to reveal something in His Word; Bible reading and prayer in response. I thought it would be boring. But I discovered a whole new world of fellowship with God. He spoke and revealed to me so much about himself in those times together. It whetted my appetite for more of God going forward.
