In this second half of chapter 3, John the Baptist is reintroduced in the gospel narrative: just after telling us about Jesus encounter with Nicodemus, John re-introduce John the Baptist

    1. To tell us about an argument that developed between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over ceremonial washing & that Jesus was also like John, baptizing on the other side of the Jordan
    2. Basically, John’s purpose is to explain John the Baptist's & his ministry’s relationship to Jesus/ministry & provide his testimony about Jesus
    3. Ends w/ a wedding metaphor telling about his role in Jesus ministry and conclude with a profound statement about him and Jesus
