Holiness In A Bathrobe

Intro: Good morning church. This is the long weekend and we are the ones who have been ‘left behind’ as many have gotten away to go camping/ visiting family.  And because we are the ones who didn’t get away I think it is only fair that we relax a little more at church this morning. So, this morning I want to play with an idea/style in this sermon - that we wouldn’t’t normally use during the rest of the year. And I want use the preaching style the Jesus often used for he would often paint a picture/tell a story and then draw a spiritual application which would stick in a person’s mind as they left. Question … have you ever seen a place where Jesus used exegetical preaching where he pulled apart a long text from the OT ?? Instead, Jesus, either painted a picture or told a story that was packed with spiritual insights and challenge - that would stick with his audience as they did life that next week.
