2 Kings 4:1-7

Intro: All of us love a good story. What is your favourite Movie? What is your favourite movie?

My all-time favourite movie is Princess Bride. I love sword fights/ the corny humour/ that love wins out/ and that the good guys win in the end. A while ago, when we were in Sacramento I came across this display of the actual sword and the 5 fingered glove from the movie.  As Inigo Montoya said, ‘My name is Inigo Montoya - you killed my father prepare to die’.  And that is a picture of the ‘Cliffs of Insanity’ which are actually the cliffs of Moher in Ireland where Kathy and I took a scary boat ride to see the cliffs that were used in the movie. We all love a great story, don’t we?

As Christians we also love hearing stories of people’s faith Journeys. We love hearing how God stepped in a made a difference in the midst of a desperate situation and how He changes someone’s life. That is why we loved our “Life Sunday” for it reminded us of what God still does today.   We all need to hear those kinds of stories so for a few moments I want to take you to a story that comes from the Old Testament that I hope will encourage and challenge you.
