Serge Poirier

Associate Pastor of Equipping and Ministry Support from 2008

Serge is originally from Montreal, Quebec and spent most of his life in the Montreal area where he met his wife Jeannette. Serge is a graduate of the University of Quebec in Montreal (Bachelor degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting) and of Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary (Master of Divinity). Serge’s professional background includes working in the field of accounting and pharmaceutical sales representation prior to going into full time ministry.

Serge comes to SVBC from 8 years of ministry experience as pastor in the Montreal area.

Serge and Jeannette have been married since May 1983, and have five grown children and 2 grandchildren.

Areas of passion in ministry include teaching, discipling and equipping believers to grow in their faith and to share it with others around them, as well as administration, theology and support of senior staff. Other areas of interest include sports (particularly hockey; being a Montreal Canadians fan and also fan of a few other teams. This is usually to be determined each year prior to the series, and may include the Oilers or perhaps even the Flames, if the merit is there…), reading, world news & affairs and nature. Serge also loves Christian worship music and singing along, but nobody in the family can tolerate his singing.
