There’s theory and then there’s experience. Take waterskiing for example. You can read about how to waterski. You can watch videos of other people skiing. You can talk with people who water ski. But to actually waterski requires going into the water and trying to get up on the skis.
Many years ago when I was a young man, I joined some friends from church at a cabin near a lake. We had access to a boat that weekend. We planned to water ski. I had never done that before. So, I talked with others who had done it. One was a very experienced water skier. He said it was quite easy. You just sit in the water with your skis and wait for the boat to pull you up. Then off you go.
