Earlier this week, I watched a reporter interview a financial analyst. He summarized the findings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). They predict that 2020 will be the worst economic year since the Wall Street Crash in 1929. It predicts Canada’s economy will contract or decline over 6%. I read this morning about some small businesses that will permanently close because of the current situation.
I am no expert on financial markets or economies. Yet I suspect we’re in for some trouble in this area over the next months and year. We don’t know what our economy and jobs will look when regulations get eased.
Thankfully, God is with us in all trouble. Instead of me talking today, here’s some prayers and assurance for times of trouble.
Psalm 9:9 - The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

Psalm 25:18 - Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins.
Psalm 27:5 - For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.
Psalm 32:7 - You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.
Psalm 34:6 - This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.
Psalm 37:39 - The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 50:15 - Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
Psalm 77:2 - In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted.
