As we come to Christmas and the end of 2020, I want to thank all of you who have joined in with me on this journey of reflection over the past 9 months. I started posting when we first shut down, to establish a little connection amidst the isolation. Little did I know, that this would turn into a regular habit.
I have enjoyed sharing with you discoveries and my thoughts on an ongoing walk with the Lord. I have appreciated your comments, thoughts and simple notifications. I will be signing off until the New Year.
I have one final thought to share with you. I hear a fair amount about the hope we have in 2021. Many look forward to turning the calendar and saying good riddance to 2020. I too hope that 2021 will bring good news regarding the pandemic. However, I think that we put ourselves on shaky ground if we only hope in a New Year.
I don’t believe something magical or automatic happens when the clock strikes 12 on December 31. I do believe it provides an opportunity for new beginning. However, we still will face some inconvenience and troubles in 2021. So our hope that 2021 will be different may soon get disappointed.
But God remains faithful. He has walked with us through every moment of 2020. He will continue to do so into 2021 and beyond. So the word of the desperate Psalmist seems an appropriate call as end 2020 and go into 2021.
“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.” (Psalm 42:5, 11, 43:5).
So Merry Christmas 2020! Happy New Year 2021! I pray we can mutually encourage one another to continue to keep hoping in God in whatever comes.
God bless you!
