Last week, we had the opportunity to spend a few days in the Rocky Mountains. We enjoyed walking on mountain paths and looking up often to take in the magnificent sight. There is something breath taking and awe inspiring about those mountains. Perhaps it’s the simple fact that they are way bigger than us – and they are real. No computer generated imagery is needed to add to the mountains majesty.
The mountains also encourage my faith. The vast and high mountains point to the one who created them. He is greater, stronger and more magnificent than an entire mountain range. So whatever you face today, remember that the God who made the mountains is the same God who cares for you. Here are some Scriptures that remind us of this.
• Psalm 36:6
o Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD.
• Psalm 48:1
o Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,
• Psalm 76:4
o Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey.
• Psalm 90:2
o Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
• Psalm 95:4
o In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.
• Psalm 97:5
o The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.
• Psalm 99:9
o Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the LORD our God is holy!
• Psalm 104:8
o The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place that you appointed for them.
• Psalm 104:13
o From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
“Thank you Lord for magnificent displays of your glory and power. Whether it’s the mountains, the ocean, a vast plain or a deep valley, You are Lord over them all. Let this evidence build up my faith knowing that the Lord over the mountains is on my side today.”
